When you get the opportunity to help make a difference in the lives of children who are terminally ill, you make sure to put your heart and soul into helping. By setting up something as simple as an aquarium, children are able to focus on something else and be more positive.

Mobile Aquatic Therapy (MAT) is a product and program which provides children in hospital settings a way to benefit from a calming aquarium filled with colourful fish. MAT is approved for various hospital settings, some of which include:

  • Family Rooms
  • Playrooms
  • Pediatric ER
  • Radiology
  • ICUs
  • Chemotherapy Treatment Rooms

MAT was built and designed by Something Fishy Inc. in Chicago. While the entire product is assembled by their team, they have utilised various leaders in the industry to help with its development. This included Metal Supermarkets who was a critical partner in assisting them with the proper placement and setup for the medical grade caster wheels.

In fact, Something Fishy has relied on Metal Supermarkets for the past several years. The Metal Supermarkets location in Bridgeview has supplied various metals for many large aquarium systems and projects. As the main focus of an aquarium design company is to build larger aquarium systems, when they decided to go into product design, they knew they could rely on the metal expertise and quality materials they received from Metal Supermarkets on past projects.

“Unparalleled to any other companies we’ve looked to receive metal industry work/knowledge from in the past. Not only are we confident we would be getting competitive prices, Nick and his team in Chicago (Bridgeview) are always ready at any given moment to assist our team even with the hardest of material fabrication challenges or design. When something needed to be redesigned, they were always ready to assist in helping us get the high-quality results we strive for.” – Romney Cirillo, Something Fishy Inc. Owner

Metal Supermarkets played a pivotal role in the development of the MAT unit, working with Romney and his team at Something Fishy to develop the specialised custom caster base plates which allows the mobile aquarium to move on wheels to wherever it may be needed the most. Metal Supermarkets also supplied the tank safety holding brackets which keep the aquarium from shifting while in motion. Helping out with this project was very important for the Metal Supermarkets Chicago (Bridgeview) franchisee Nicholas Campione, as he wanted to help bring joy to children who were going through a difficult period in their lives.

“I had the pleasure of working on a very special project that is going to play a big role in the lives of sick and terminally ill children all over.” – Nicholas Campione, Metal Supermarkets Franchisee

Metal Supermarkets is proud to help and support companies that make a big difference in children’s lives and bring some joy to lift their spirits! You can learn more about Something Fishy and their Mobile Aquatic Therapy on their website, Facebook or Instagram (@mobileaquatictherapy).
