Current Open Positions:

Delivery Driver

Southampton

You will be part of our team in the Metal Supermarkets Southampton Store and will deliver customer orders, collect supplies, unload/load product, general warehouse work, etc. Deliveries/collections will be carried out in a 3.5 tonne drop-side truck for which a full manual driving licence is required. This role involves loading and unloading metal at customer and supplier locations. It is a physically active role, ideal for someone who enjoys a practical job and doesn’t mind keeping busy and on the move. Within this role you will be expected to provide help and cover for absence in the warehouse to prepare customer orders, i.e., cutting metal, drilling holes, put away stocks, etc. Training will be provided, including obtaining an FLT Licence if needed.

Primary Driving Responsibilities:

  • Small quantity metal deliveries to local industrial/manufacturing client base while maintaining a superior level of customer service
  • Assist in the preparation of orders ready for despatch, load/unload vehicle, etc.
  • Pick up larger orders from suppliers
  • Work in a safe environment
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
  • Complete other tasks as required
  • Frequent lifting is part of this role

Assistance to be provided in the warehouse/production:

  • Collect metal from the Warehouse to prepare customer orders to exact specifications by cutting, folding, drilling etc using various machines such as saws, hydraulic guillotines, etc.
  • Receive, identify and stock incoming materials and assist in maintenance of equipment
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks and ensure warehouse is clean and organized

Qualifications/Experience:

  • 1 year of previous delivery driving experience
  • Valid driver’s license (Manual) Category B
  • Ability to accurately use measuring instruments – ie tape measure and calipers
  • Physically able to frequently lift/move metal product weighing up to 25kg
  • Motivated and enthusiastic team member who is reliable, with good timekeeping and attendance
  • Ability to work well under pressure, on your own initiative, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Excellent customer relationship skills
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbally and written
  • GCSE or equivalent qualification/experience in Maths and English

The following are beneficial but not essential:

  • Metal and metal related product knowledge
  • Computer skills – MS office, etc.
  • Forklift certified with experience

What we offer:

    • Wage £13.75/hr equivalent to £30,030 pa
    • Additional pension contributions/holiday options offered after 2 years.
    • Full uniform provided, including boots
    • Shifts are Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm and an additional shift every second Saturday from 8:00am – 12:00pm
    • Working 40 hours per week and 44 hours every second week with the Saturday hours

Warehouse Production Operative

About the Opportunity

As Warehouse Production Operative you will be responsible for the preparation of customer orders ie cutting metal, drilling holes, packaging orders for despatch, etc, occasionally you may be required to make deliveries/collections in a 3.5 tonne drop-side truck. You will receive full training on the use of our equipment and understanding of metal. Responsibilities

  • Collect metal from the Warehouse to prepare customer orders undertaking mechanical processes where required to meet exact customer specifications. Processes could include cutting, folding, drilling, etc. using mechanical equipment such as saws, hydraulic guillotines, box and pan folders, drilling machines, etc.
  • Use a forklift to move/collect materials/product (FLT Training will be provided if needed)
  • Receive, identify and stock incoming materials as required
  • Advise Store Management of any requirements for maintenance and repairs, e.g., for saws, forklift, etc.
  • Work in a safe environment at all times, perform daily safety and maintenance checks, and ensure the warehouse is clean and organized.

Driving duties when required:

  • Make small quantity metal deliveries to local industrial/manufacturing client base while maintaining an excellent level of customer service
  • Collect larger orders from suppliers
  • Other duties may be assigned as required

Qualifications/Experience

  • 1 year of previous driving experience
  • Valid Manual Driver’s License Category B
  • Able to accurately use measuring instruments—i.e., tape measure and callipers
  • Physically able to frequently lift/move metal product weighing up to 25kg
  • Motivated and enthusiastic team member
  • Excellent customer relationship skills

  • Wage £14.25/hr equivalent to £31,122 pa

  • Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm and an additional shift every second Saturday from 8:00am – 12:00pm.
  • Working 40 hours per week and up to 44 hours every second week with the Saturday hours
